All About Charleston Camp

Linda Dennis, with A Backpack Journalist, will take campers around to explore Charleston, from the harbor to the inland areas, downtown to the airport, to learn about the known and unknown history of Charleston and the Lowcountry. Each student will use an iPad to make a short film at the end of camp.

Music & Sports Camp

Campers will try out for parts and learn songs to put on a musical performance on the last day of the weeklong camp at Ashley River Baptist Church. The children will continue to learn about sportsmanship during afternoon sports camp.

Bold Academy of Ninja and Gymnastics

Bold Academy uses ninja and gymnastics as a way to get kids to exercise. In addition, they use games, crafts and STEM activities to keep a child interested. Each week has its own theme: Harry Potter, Mandalorian, Roblox and Minecraft.

This camp provides a wonderful introduction to veterinary medicine and is a perfect program for any student interested in a career in the medical field. Campers will learn about and participate in activities such as physical exams, reading radiographs, watching surgeries, anti-cruelty investigations, managing disease, practicing injections and performing an ultrasound.

BARK Camp: Advocates in Action

This week of camp features more animal time than any other week due to the activities involved. Campers will work to advocate for adoptable animals in order to help them find homes at the Charleston Animal Society.

Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry Summer Camps

This summer, CML offers a variety of camps that will spark the imagination and stimulate curiosity in children ages 5-8. STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) concepts are woven into all camp themes.

Choice Gymnastics Summer Camp

An active sports camp, with no gymnastics experience required, this camp offers time in the gym, outside play, crafts and games at Choice Gymnastics. Each week has a different theme.

Young Naturalist Kayak Adventure Camp

This summer camp is designed to get kids outside to learn skills like sea kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, water safety and ecology. Daily activities change each week based on the tides and weather and include learning to kayak and paddleboard, fossil hunting, Morris Island boat ride and island hike, creek sweep, journaling, crabbing and touch tank, swimming, birding and team building games. Camp is led by Coastal Expeditions guides who are year-round environmental educators with certifications in first aid, CPR and lifeguarding.

Studio Art Summer Immersion (SASI)

The College of Charleston has a unique, two-week intensive summer program offering local high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a strong demonstrated interest in studio art exposure to college-level studio art foundation classes.

College of Charleston Sailing Camp

These camps are designed to teach children the basic fundamentals and introduce them to the amazing sport of sailing. The CofC sailing instructional staff will conduct teaching on the water aboard J-22 fixed keelboats.

Creative Edge Dance Center Summer Dancing

This dance center offers a variety of camps ranging from full-day camps for ages 3-7, dance camps for ages 6-11, and workshop intensives for the more serious dancers ages 8 and older.

Crush Yard Pickleball Camp

Teen Venture Camp

Get into the true spirit of adventure through Teen Venture Camp, offered by Charleston County Parks, where campers will be fully immersed in the outdoors. A variety of locations in the Carolinas will provide the backdrop for fun and exciting multi-day adventure sessions that will cultivate cooperation, leadership, and responsibility. Choose from a different activity offered each week including skateboarding, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and rock climbing. All sessions depart from James Island County Park.

Music Video Choir Camp

Campers will be immersed in a musical funhouse with a “Winter in July” theme, and will make a music video for an original song. Explorers Camp at James Island, Palmetto Islands and Wannamaker county parks

Held at James Island, Palmetto Islands, and Wannamaker County Parks, these weekly themed camps introduce kids to the wonders of being outside, and build physical, social, and decision-making skills while providing recreational fun. Campers will explore and learn about the Lowcountry environment, create arts and crafts, and play cooperative games. Exciting adventures await with canoeing, pedal boating, bicycling, trips to the waterpark, and nature discovery and exploration treks around each park.

West Ashley Gymnastics Camp

West Ashley Gymnastics offers full-day summer gymnastics camps for girls and boys.

White Key Studios Music Camp

Charleston’s summer music campers will learn and explore music by contemporary pop and rock bands by delving into multiple instruments, creating, collaborating, and forming their own bands. Campers will be mentored by current working and recording artists and guided in writing original songs, designing band merch, recording demos, plugging in performing “gigs,” and more. No experience is necessary for any age group.

YMCA of Greater Charleston Summer Day Camp
