When I think of my childhood, I have memories of hanging out with my friends and spending hours combing the manes and tails of our collections of My Little Ponies, chattering happily and creating adventures for them. Something about horses conjures up carefree and wholesome feelings. The New Netflix series Spirit Riding Free captures the nostalgia of a time where kids played together outside using their imaginations and sought after adventure.
This coming of age story introduces 12 year old Lucky, a free-spirited girl who moves to a new town, she is nervous, unsure about her future and how she will fit in. On the way in, as she is on the train she sees Spirit, a horse who does not want to be tamed, he wants to be free. Lucky is immediately drawn to the horse as his circumstance parallels her own . Lucky encounters some challenges making friends as she meets the kids in town, but stays true to herself and does not conform to peer pressure to be unkind in order to be liked by others. She, like Spirit cannot be tamed and is going to do her own thing to remain free. She ultimately befriends two girls Abigail and Pru. The series follows the adventures and challenges these three friends encounter.
Spirit Riding free is a breath of fresh air bringing kids back to being kids, being outside, seeking adventure and learning about the world around them.

I was so excited to be chosen to host a screening of the series. We were sent some really fun bandanas, books, bags and posters and an exclusive game coupon for each child who attended. We served popcorn, juice boxes and Spirit's favorite - apples! We had kids from ages 3-12 watch the show. They absolutely loved it! They were all smiles and loved that they were able to take home goodies from the show! They are all excited to watch the series on Netflix to see what other adventures await Lucky and Spirit!
