Not Your Average Lot- Buy One, Give One Christmas Trees Opens First Location
“Every child deserves a tree” is the motto of one Lowcountry business aiming to give every family the experience of having a fresh Christmas Tree to celebrate the holidays around. This year, Buy One, Give One (BOGO) Christmas Tree company is hosting their first retail lot at Blackbeard’s Cove in Mount Pleasant in order to serve more people and, in effect, donate more trees to families in need around Charleston County.
“We are trying to create a family tradition out of giving this season,” says co-found, Katrina Naz. "We thought it would be a win-win-win for everyone- parents can teach a lesson in giving, kids can enjoy the festive environment and a Lowcountry family gets a tree. It totally beats just grabbing a tree on the drive home."
Last year was their first year and they were able to donate 75 trees to qualifying families of Angel Oak Elementary through Communities in Schools (CIS) of Charleston. They will host their second annual donation event on Dec. 8.
In addition to their partnership with CIS, BOGO will also donate fresh-cut trees to Operation Fir, an East Cooper Community Outreach initiative. Those trees, along with decoration kits, will be delivered to families on Dec 12.
BOGO opened their “old-school” Christmas tree lot at Blackbeard’s Cove at 10am on Friday, Nov. 27 and will be open through Dec. 23 or until they sell out. Music, a fire-pit at night and festive lights will aid to complement the Family Fun Park theme. Refreshments and games, including the “18-holes of Christmas” will be available inside.
