Special Needs events and resources for Charleston families.

By Lisa Bayorek October 13, 2015

Charleston has some amazing resources and events for special needs families.   Below you will find some of the current and upcoming programs.  This guide will be ongoing in the newsletter so you will always be able to find out what is going on and we will be adding new events and information as we come across them.  Please share with any families you know who would be interested in these programs.

Special Hours and programs ~

Children’s museum of the Lowcountry

Super Stars – On the Second and Fourth Sunday of Each Month, The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry welcomes Special Needs children and their families to come and play from 10 am – 12 pm for FREE!   This is a great program as children are able to freely play without the crowds and over stimulation.

Special needs partners ensure a stimulating experience and lead planned activities that are designed to encourage participants to learn through play at their own pace, build self-confidence and discover their natural talents.  Using CML as an alternative play environment, children can hone fine and gross motor skills through play, learn forces and motion in RaceWays, explore a multi-story medieval castle and shop for “real” groceries.
